Artist Reception Thursday October 12th,  5 – 9 PM

Second Reception Thursday November 9th,  5 – 9

Jonathan Happ explores the ability of painting to suspend time. His current work evolved from investigations into death through religious and medical lenses,
and the most recent images explore the Roman Catholic concept of purgatory. These paintings allude to forests as a timeless spiritual place, while the unforgiving behavior of digital light leads the viewer through the darkness. The resulting work creates a reflective space that invites skepticism and expresses uncertainty.

Jonathan Happ currently lives and works in Seattle, WA. He received his BFA from Iowa State University and his MFA from the University of Washington.
