Cloud Gallery is pleased to present Brett Douglas Davis: Tear Jerk. April 9 through May 31, 2015. Brett Douglas Davis is a New York City-based artist and his most recent work focuses on darkly humorous figurative paintings and drawings. Although he has shown extensively, this will be his first solo show in Seattle.

The opening reception will be held on Thursday, from 5 – 8 p.m. On Wednesday, May 6th, the artist will give a gallery talk at 7:30 p.m.. A second reception will take place on Thursday May 14th from 5 – 8 p.m

These new paintings by Brett Douglas Davis rummage furiously through tragicomic territory. The work gives shape to angst and absurdity. The results are haunting narratives that meander uncomfortably from seemingly personal to public crises.

Davis recently received his Masters of Fine Arts from University of California at Davis. He has taught drawing at the University of California-Davis Art Department, was a coordinator for Brewhouse Distillery Artist Residency program in Pittsburgh, has shown nationally and abroad, and currently works in Brooklyn, NY.
